Comprehensive care from first tooth to teen years
We offer a full range of preventive, restorative, and orthodontic services for children — all under one roof in McKinley Park.
First Dental Visit
We recommend the first visit by age 1 or when your child's first tooth appears. Our team creates a calm, welcoming introduction that sets a positive foundation for lifelong oral health — no drills, no pressure.
Preventive Cleanings
Regular cleanings, digital X-rays, and personalized oral hygiene coaching catch problems early and keep cavities from developing. Preventive visits are recommended every six months.
Dental Sealants
Thin protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth seal out bacteria and food debris. One of the most effective cavity-prevention tools for school-age children — often fully covered by insurance.
Fluoride Treatments
Safe topical fluoride applications at routine visits strengthen tooth enamel and significantly reduce cavity risk — especially important while children's teeth are still developing.
Tooth-Colored Fillings
When cavities occur, we restore primary and permanent teeth with natural-looking composite resin fillings that match the tooth color, contain no mercury, and bond securely to the existing tooth structure.
Orthodontic Screening
Our board-certified orthodontists evaluate bite, spacing, and jaw alignment as part of routine care. Early screening around age 7 identifies concerns that are far easier to address before all adult teeth erupt.
A practice your children will look forward to
Gentle, Fear-Free Approach
Our team is experienced with children of all ages and anxiety levels. We explain every step before we do it, move at your child's pace, and celebrate every visit — so kids leave looking forward to coming back. Building trust is the foundation of lifelong dental health.
Multilingual Care for Families
Our team provides care in English, Spanish, Hindi, and Vietnamese. You can discuss your child's health history, ask questions, and follow post-visit instructions in the language you're most comfortable in — no translator needed.
Whole-Family Appointments
Parents and children can be scheduled at the same visit, minimizing trips to the office. Our McKinley Park location sees patients of all ages, so the whole family can establish care with one trusted team.
Pediatric dentistry questions, answered
When should my child have their first dental visit?
The American Dental Association and American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry both recommend the first dental visit by age 1 or within six months of the first tooth appearing — whichever comes first. Early visits let us monitor tooth and jaw development, discuss feeding habits and teething, and help your child build a comfortable relationship with the dentist before any treatment is ever needed.
What happens at my child's first appointment?
The first visit is a gentle introduction, not a full treatment session. We do a brief exam to check tooth development and gum health, clean any existing teeth, apply fluoride if appropriate, and walk through diet, brushing technique, and what to expect as more teeth come in. We keep it short, calm, and positive so your child leaves feeling good about the experience.
Does Ganger Family Dentistry see teenagers?
Yes. We provide comprehensive dental care through the teen years, including cleanings, X-rays, tooth-colored fillings, orthodontic screenings, and extractions when needed. Teens transitioning from a pediatric-only practice are welcome. Our board-certified orthodontists — Dr. Urvi Ganger and Dr. Kapil Vij — can also evaluate alignment and bite concerns and discuss Invisalign or traditional braces options.
Do you accept children's dental insurance?
Yes. We accept most PPO dental insurance plans including BCBS, Aetna, Humana, Cigna, Guardian, Delta Dental, and United Healthcare. Preventive care — cleanings, X-rays, fluoride treatments, and sealants — is often covered at 100% for children under the ACA. We verify your child's benefits before the appointment and file all claims on your behalf so there are no surprises.
My child is anxious about the dentist. How do you handle that?
We use a tell-show-do approach: we explain and demonstrate every step before it happens, always move at your child's pace, and never rush. Our team is experienced with children of all ages and anxiety levels. We celebrate small wins at every visit so kids build confidence over time. For children who need more extensive treatment, we can discuss additional comfort options at your consultation.
Do you offer early orthodontic evaluation?
Yes. Dr. Urvi Ganger and Dr. Kapil Vij are both board-certified orthodontists and evaluate children's bite and tooth alignment as part of routine care. A screening around age 7 can identify overcrowding, crossbites, underbites, and jaw development concerns that are significantly easier to address before all adult teeth erupt. Early intervention often reduces the complexity and cost of future orthodontic treatment.
