We handle your emergency in-office, today.

From severe toothache to knocked-out teeth, our team has the equipment and expertise to diagnose and treat your emergency without sending you to a separate specialist.

Toothache & Tooth Pain

Severe or persistent tooth pain is never normal. Pain that wakes you at night, worsens with pressure or temperature, or radiates to your jaw or ear requires same-day evaluation to rule out infection or nerve damage.

Broken or Chipped Tooth

A cracked or broken tooth can expose the nerve and worsen rapidly. We assess the fracture, provide immediate relief, and determine whether a crown, bonding, or extraction is the appropriate path forward.

Knocked-Out Tooth

Act immediately — a permanent tooth has the best chance of survival within 30–60 minutes of being knocked out. Keep it moist, handle it by the crown only, and call us the moment it happens. Time is the critical factor.

Lost Crown or Filling

An exposed tooth without its crown or filling is vulnerable to fracture, temperature sensitivity, and pain. We can often re-cement a crown the same day or place a temporary restoration while a permanent solution is prepared.

Dental Abscess & Swelling

A dental abscess is a bacterial infection that can spread rapidly. Signs include swelling in the jaw, face, or neck, fever, and a bad taste in the mouth. Call immediately — severe neck or throat swelling requires the emergency room.

Soft Tissue Injuries

Cuts, lacerations, or puncture wounds to the lips, tongue, cheeks, or gums from biting or trauma may require prompt care to control bleeding and prevent infection. We evaluate and treat soft tissue injuries in-office.

Same-day care. Same team. No runarounds.

A dental emergency is not the time to navigate referrals or wait a week for an open slot. We keep time reserved for emergencies every day we are open.

Same-Day Emergency Visits

We reserve time each day for emergency patients. When you call during office hours, we work to get you seen the same day — not next week. No prolonged suffering while waiting for an appointment slot. Call (773) 247-5554 immediately.

In-Office Oral Surgery & Extractions

Dr. Christopher Nguyen handles extractions, surgical procedures, and complex cases entirely in-office. You will not be sent to a separate oral surgeon. Same team, same location, faster resolution of your dental emergency.

Multilingual Care

Our team speaks English, Spanish, Hindi, and Vietnamese — so you can describe your symptoms and understand your care clearly, in the language where you are most comfortable. Clear communication matters most when you are in pain.

Emergency dental pricing, explained

Emergency dental visits at Ganger Family Dentistry typically start at $200–$400 for an examination and diagnostic X-rays to identify the problem. Additional treatment costs — an extraction, root canal, crown, or other procedure — are quoted after diagnosis, before we proceed, so there are no surprises.

Most dental insurance plans cover emergency exams and X-rays under basic or diagnostic benefits. Coverage for subsequent treatment depends on your specific plan and remaining annual maximum. We verify your benefits before treatment and file all claims on your behalf so you know your out-of-pocket cost upfront.

For patients without insurance, we offer affordable monthly payment plans and an in-house membership program that reduces the cost of emergency and follow-up care. Cost is never a reason to delay treatment when you are in pain.

Emergency dentistry questions, answered

Do you accept same-day emergency dental appointments?

Yes. We make every effort to see emergency patients the same day they call. If you have a dental emergency — severe tooth pain, a knocked-out tooth, a broken crown, or swelling — call us immediately at (773) 247-5554. Same-day appointments are available Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, and Tuesday 9:00 AM–2:00 PM. For after-hours emergencies with severe swelling or difficulty breathing, please go to the nearest emergency room.

What counts as a dental emergency?

A dental emergency is any situation involving severe or worsening pain, visible trauma to teeth or gums, uncontrolled bleeding, facial swelling that may indicate infection, or a knocked-out tooth. Common emergencies include: severe toothache, broken or cracked teeth, knocked-out permanent teeth, lost crowns or fillings causing pain, dental abscesses with swelling, and soft tissue injuries from trauma. When in doubt, call us — we would rather evaluate you than have you wait and suffer.

What should I do if a tooth is knocked out?

Act immediately — a knocked-out tooth has the best chance of survival if re-implanted within 30–60 minutes. Pick up the tooth by the crown (the visible part), not the root. If dirty, rinse gently with water — do not scrub or use soap. Keep the tooth moist: place it back in the socket if possible, or hold it between your cheek and gum, or put it in a small container of cold milk. Call us at (773) 247-5554 the moment it happens. Do not let the tooth dry out.

We accept most major dental insurance plans and file all claims on your behalf. Payment plans are available for uninsured patients.

For same-day emergencies during open hours, call (773) 247-5554 immediately and we will do our best to see you that day. If you experience a dental emergency outside of office hours — particularly severe swelling involving the neck, throat, or difficulty breathing — please go to the nearest emergency room, as these symptoms may indicate a spreading infection.
